Lewis, Chris & Matt were down south at the weekend riding the Bath Road Club National Junior Series RR in Buckinghamshire. A quality field made for a hard race right from the start and straight away a small group got off the front and Chris was up there in the leading group at the end of the first lap. It was all change a lap later with Matt being in the front group, Lewis chasing with a few others and Chris back in the bunch. Read more ...
Four men braved truly awful conditions to what can only be described as survive the race, it was split up with groups huddled together. The elites race was split by attacks from all, including Lewis, Jack and Daff. In the end our finishing order was Lewis 4th, then Daff, then Jack. In the other race Martin was 7th survivor!
Lewis, Martin and Luke contested the latest
in the Tameside Crit events. As per usual the race was pacey from the off, with Lewis attacking in the E/1/2 race, and Luke in the 3/4s. Lewis kept making moves but knowone wanted to work, and a natural thinning of the field led to a small group sprinting at the end with Lewis 2nd. In the other race Luke and Martin came in the top 15 we think, but unfortunately it was a bit disjointed.
All the juniors went down for a fast and furious crit in the midlands, on a baking hot day. The race was slightly marred by a false start which caught out a few riders including a few of ours. The race was very quick and too hot for a lot if the field. Lewis was still a bit tender from his off the week before, however Chris
was an excellent 9th with Lewis just behind, and Jack, Julian and Luke completing the race.
The new circuit at Tameside held its first race last night, with Chris, Luke, Lewis and Martin making the trip. The race was originally planned as two seperate races, but was set of as a handicap. Martin was a little worried about this as it meant the possibility of racing with all the E/1/2 cats! as well as Juniors and Youth A riders. The 3/4/J race was very quick from the gun, with Luke right at the front, the race split early and Martin had to bridge across to stay in. The E/1/2 race was also fast, with Chris in a early move, only to suffer a crash just after. Read more ...
The midweek handicap race saw a good field, and had almost a shock result. The fourth cats put up a valiant effort to stay away, the third cats never caught them, and the E/1/2 group only caught them on the final straight to the sprint! The efforts from Matt, and James to get away meant they led Lewis out with Chris behind and we got a great 2nd and 3rd. Special mention for Grant for his efforts in the 4th Cat group.
Lazonby was the venue for this years Regional champs, a challenging course, combined with a hot day. The juniors contained the whole team, with a few of the team in the 3/4 event and Andy Coupe and James the main focus of the Elite event. The Junior race was hard with many breaks going, the main break went and unfortunately we missed it, however Julian put in a huge effort to bridge for Lewis before a well deserved rest. The break joined up with a group from the 3/4 race, and gained more time. Read more ...
A great result this week after Dafydd and Lewis made the break and finished 5th and 2nd ahead of the top 2 in the League so closing the gap overall as well. A much more controlled effort in waiting until part way through the race to make the decisive move and making it stick. Also great teamwork in the bunch ensuring the break stayed away and then when, in the closing laps when the break was safe, taking the inititive at the front of the bunch to put Steve in a position to finish 9th.
This year Isle of Man Tour was hard, as per usual, the team was made up of two 2nd years- Lewis and Chris, and 1st years Jack, Luke and Matt. The prologue was not a priority, with Lewis highest place, the next days were the aim. The racing wa hard, and a brutal first day started from the Gun with Chris involved in the early moves. Unfortunately Lewis has been suffering from a cold, and wasn't quite at full speed. He and Matt tried in the moves, but Lewis couldn't break free and suffered a bit from the days efforts. Chris was the man of the day finishing in the top 15. Read more ...
