The last event @Litherland was, as usual go from the gun! Martin was on the wrong side of quite a lot of bad luck. Firstly Tom Dalton clipped a pedal on the hairpin on lap 3, causing him to puncture, thus giving Martin a large gap to close, which took a lap and a half todo. Then just as he was trying to have a well earned breather, a rider from Birkenhead popped him on the grass, another chase! Finally a youth A rider from Manchester Wheelers came straight through him on the hairpin with three laps togo. He just got back on as the sprint started, and popped! Read more ...
A miserable day, with torrential rain, and high winds made for a tough race, survival being the order of the day. A small but determined field started the event, Mike Fuggacia suffered an early puncture, having made much of the early running. The field split with Dan Whelan, Liam Brennan and Robert Ormerod going away, this was to be the race winning move. Grant chipped off just after, and held on for almost half the race to claim 5th, Martin won the bunch gallop for 6th, and Eldon in the points rounding off a good nights work.
Steve Abbott of team wallis_CHH made it five wins for the season at the Litherland Criterium series on Wednesday evening. A committed ride from Abbott has earned him his 1st cat licence with some style.
Joined by team mates Sean Hughes, Martin Wallis and Grant Ormerod, wallis_CHH put on a controlled attacking display. However it was Hughes that went on the attack first, going away from the very gun. He was then joined by Abbott and made a trio with Liam Brennan, but Hughes dropped back to the peloton. Read more ...
A fast paced night saw the field strung out with strong riding around the difficult course at Litherland. A welcome return for Sean saw four of the team contest the race, Steve, Jack and Grant making up the four. No one could get away, and the race ended in a sprint from the last corner, which for the first time for 5 weeks, Steve did not win, Liam Brennan had the edge, with the team securing Sean 2nd, Steve 3rd and Jack 5th. Grant came in 9th to add to his points tally.
Steve Abbott continued his remarkable recent record at the Litherland Race Series by making it four wins in a row on Wednesday night. Abbott, who was flanked by teamwallis-CHH teammates Grant Ormerod and Martin Wallis, took the victory after an attacking race. Read more ...
