Arena Points

Well done everyone who has been plugging away at the Preston Arena all season and amassing plenty of points for the team. Sorry no-one has listed every indivdual point scored, but I know Andy Coupe, Eldon, Lewis, Iain, Steve and John all appear in the league tables, with others providing valuable support during the season.

And welcome back to racing for Martin, after having to devote most of his energies to running the team and the shop, with an eighth place on the 20th August.

John Sweats to 3rd cat!

In hot and sticky conditions, John Sherriffs survived 6 laps of the challenging Bashall Eaves circuit on Sunday to finish in a magnificent 5th place in the Regional B race of the North West Regional Road Race Championships. His points promote him to 3rd category status.

In the National B race, Steve Abbot (right) was a great 15th and Andy Coupe 25th.

Tom sprints to victory in Clitheroe

Tom Moses clinched a stunning first win of the season for teamwallis-CHH with a surging sprint finish in Clitheroe’s West Pennine RC Road Race.

The 17-year-old tagged on to a late break involving Mike Harrison (Congleton CC), Duncan Putman (Derby Mercury) and Gareth McGuinness (Energy Cycles) before bursting over the line in first with the chasing pack close behind.

Fellow teamwallis-CHH junior Lewis Balyckyi also performed well, initiating a number of mini-breaks himself before finishing in the top 15 along with team-mate Iain Armstrong. Read more ...

Tom Top Three with the Elites

Tom Moses secured a brilliant 3rd place in the tough E123 race at Old Hutton yesterday, beaten only by two Elite category riders. That's an incredible result for a Junior who doesn't even turn 17 for another week.

Lewis Balyckyi and Steve Abbott also finished in the points, in 14th and 20th places. Iain (along with over a third of the field) didn't manage a finish, after an attacking early start. Read more ...

This is why we set up teamwallis-CHH. All of our riders working together to pull the bunch along at 35mph, chasing down a break at the Frank Morgan Memorial Road Race on 12th April.

Shortly after this, Lewis, the junior we had aimed to get in the top-ten, got away in the race-winning break and scored a magnificent 4th place.

Well done everyone, great shot of teamwork in action! Read more ...

Teamwallis Top the Table!

teamwallis-CHH are now officially the top-ranked team in the North West!

Thanks largely to Chris Sherriffs' sterling performances in the early CDNW races and the tremendous team performance in the Merseyside Wheelers' Road Race this weekend, the British Cycling Regional Tables show our solid lead of 56 points, well ahead of the next team, on 33.

We hope to consolidate this lead with our strong entry at the Frank Morgan Regional A race this weekend.

Individual teamwallis-CHH riders are also leading the way, with Tom Moses topping the Yorkshire Regional 2nd cat rankings and Steve Abbot second (and Lewis and Iain in the top ten) in the North West. Chris Sherrifs is 3rd and Martin Wallis 10th in the 3rd cats and John Sherrifs 2nd and Martin Horne 5th in the 4th cats. Read more ...

AGAIN! Three in the Top Ten. And Tom wins points prize.

20090405Tom

Another great team performance today at the Merseyside Wheelers Regional A race on the glamorous West Pimbo Industrial Estate circuit!

Iain Armstrong was fourth, Tom Moses fifth and Steve Abbot eighth.

Tom had been away with another rider for most of the race and won the prize for the most points over the line on each lap, as well as for being the first junior finisher. Read more ...

Chris places again

Chris Sherriffs got BC points again on Sunday, with a 5th place in the 3/4 CDNW race on the challenging Cockermouth circuit. Surprisingly, around half the field survived to contest the final sprint.

Andy picked up some prime points, Martin did sterling work keeping the breaks under control and leading nervous riders through the tight hairpin at speed. John and Mick worked hard in the bunch, Sarah, who had been up at the front all race, was so unlucky to puncture twice on the final lap and Louise worked hard on a course which she didn't feel suited her. Chris on the Podium, Steve in the Points!

Chris Sherriffs fought his way through a crowded uphill sprint to secure a brilliant 3rd place in the 3/4 category event of the second CDNW road race of the year at Saighton on Sunday, while Steve Abbot shrugged off his injuries of Saturday and finished in the points in the E/1/2 race.
