Gullen Moving On

James Gullen has left team wallis-CHH and will ride for the new Metaltek - Scott outfit in 2012. The 21 year old Yorkshireman has spent several seasons with wallis-CHH, during which time his talent has progressed significantly, a point that Gullen was happy to point out up on announcing his news.

“Wallis-CHH have been brilliant and they have helped me develop through the ranks”, said Gullen. “I just feel that this is the right opportunity for the next step in developing my career further. What they do at wallis-CHH is a great grounding for young riders and as they learn and develop, I hope they continue to do so for a long time to come.” He added.

Gullen was keen to point out the support he had from particular individuals and how they had helped me achieve an impressive set of results during the 2011 season. “I have had brilliant support from everyone at the team. Martin and Daf gave amazing back up at the big races such as the Premier Calendar events. A lot of stuff they do is in their spare time after work and put their own resources in to the setup which is very admirable.” He also recognised the part that his teammates at wallis-CHH played in some of his 2011 performances when adding, “The boys on the team are a great bunch. We all work hard for each other and I have been fortunate to have their help when I have needed it and vice-versa. The way we rode at the Morecambe Two day was pretty special.”

wallis-CHH manager Martin Wallis was full of praise for the work Gullen has put in during his tenure with the squad. “James has worked hard this year and we do not begrudge him his move. He has conducted himself in the correct manner and is moving on for the right reasons. While we are of course sad to lose such a talented rider, we wish him all the very best luck,” said Wallis. “He has put in some fantastic rides this season, his performance at Doon Hame and the win at the Morecambe Two Day were particularly memorable.”

Wallis was also upbeat about the coming season for his remaining squad. “James moving on shows that our commitment to developing young talented riders is paying off,” said Wallis. “We have several junior riders taking the step up to the under-23 squad this year, all of which we are very confident in. We have also made several additions to the squad and are looking in to making the odd signing, strengthening the team further should the right opportunities come along”.
